Anchorage - The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) recently agreed on a commitment to endorse a program created to provide American made coats to less fortunate kids. The program, aptly named Coats for Kids, has quickly taken to the IAFF community with overwhelming results. Seeing the success and end result of this program Alaska Fire Fighters felt it was time to bring Coats for Kids and American made coats to our IAFF department communities.
With the amazing partnership of Alaska Airlines we were able to hold two Coats for Kids events in Alaska this fall, one in Fairbanks and one in Anchorage. "Providing something like this to the kids of Fairbanks just reinforces how much firefighters love the community they live and work in" - Dominic Lozano President Fairbanks Fire Fighters. Dominic says Fairbanks Fire Fighters were able to hand out nearly 130 coats to kids this year. Justin Mack of Anchorage Fire Fighters Local 1264 was able to put together a similar event in Anchorage handing out 150 coats to a local elemetary school. "Seeing the kids light up when you hand them a coat is worth every effort to make this happen" Mack stated.
Keep you eye out for future events in other Alaska cities!
