Anchorage Fire Fighters Promote CPR 11/20/15 - Alaska Professional Fire Fighters Association Anchorage Fire Fighters, with collaboration from the Anchorage Fire Department, recently launched an awareness website titled Anchorage Survivors.  This website looks to educate the public on the importance of calling 911 and early bystander "hands-on CPR" to achieve the goal of increased sudden cardiac event survivability in their community.

Fire Standards Council Appointment 01/03/15 - Alaska Professional Fire Fighters Association We are please to announce the appointment of AKPFFA member Jake Bender to the Alaska Fire Standards Council.  Jake will be occupying the seat dedicated to the AKPFFA after a successful legislative effort to include the IAFF in discussions regarding state standards and certifications.

AKPFFA Board Members Begin Legislative Efforts 02/11/14 - Alaska Professional Fire Fighters Association The final session of the 28th Legislature in Juneau gaveled in this January and with opening business came the introduction of House Bill 247 (HB247) "Peace Officer and Firefighter Retirement" by Representative Lindsey Holmes.  This bill outlines a variable benefit systemt that will afford our Tier IV members in public safety a sustainable benefit for retirement and medical.

Alaska has success in 2 Coats for Kids events 10/23/13 - Alaska Professional Fire Fighters Association Anchorage - The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) recently agreed on a commitment to endorse a program created to provide American made coats to less fortunate kids.  The program, aptly named Coats for Kids, has quickly taken to the IAFF community with overwhelming results.
